Most of us are now working from home and as someone who has been doing it for eight years now, I will tell you that your work space is everything. I work so much better and more efficiently in a space that brings me joy. It can be quite the endeavor to set up a new office space if you are starting from scratch so I would recommend starting with a desk, chair and a rug. After you have those bigger pieces take your time to add in shelves, artwork and other décor. Bringing in plants, real or faux, can also do a lot not only for your space but can also brighten your mood while working.
If you have a choice, I recommend that you pick a space in your home that has at least one window and decent natural light. I often open the window to let fresh air in. There is nothing more calming than fresh air and the feeling of being outside.
Setting up a beautiful and functional space that brings you joy will set you up for a successful work day. When designing, start off by writing down the things that will be most important for you to have that successful work day . It could be a specific color, lighting, a large desk, a quiet area of your home, etc.
I have designed two home office work spaces that I hope bring inspiration to you as you make the shift to working from home. Wishing you the best in your new endeavors!
